There are several ways you can help:
- Spread the word about Universal Changing Places and why Powered Height Adjustable Adult Changing Tables are needed.
- Run a Campaign in your County. We can help with ideas and form letters to send to your local County Agencies and businesses.
- Write letters to your State Representatives advocating the addition of Powered Height Adjustable Adult Changing Tables to the ADA Design Standards.
In Florida over 7.8% of our total population is either non-ambulatory or has self-care issues. They cannot utilize the standard ADA compliant restrooms and they are either forced to stay at home or their caregivers have to lay them on a public restroom floor to be changed. This is unsanitary and unsafe.
With the addition of a Powered Height Adjustable Adult Changing Table to Family/Companion Care Restrooms, people with disabilities can have more active and fulfilling lives. The ADA’s goal is inclusion and yet for many people with disabilities the lack of Powered Height Adjustable Adult Changing Tables keeps them from enjoying and participating in activities in their communities. Thankfully, we can do something about this problem.
