Universal Changing Places Campaign is to get Powered Height Adjustable Adult Changing Tables installed in public restrooms for people who are non-ambulatory or have self-care issues so they can get out and enjoy their community. To do this we need State Wide Campaigns. We need your VOICE!!!
Start with your State Agencies. We recommend targeting your Department of Transportation to discuss having Powered Height Adjustable Adult Changing Tables installed in your Rest Area throughout the State. This is where the Florida Campaign started. Then move on to the State Parks and your Agencies that focus on People with Disabilities.
Contact your State Senator and House of Representative to discuss sponsoring a Legislative Bill. (Template letter is on our site) The Bill focuses on adding these to certain venues family restrooms.
Call your Airport or places that help with travel, such as trains, subways or bus terminals. These are IMPORTANT locations, so that people can travel.
Contact your area Hospitals. Usually there is a Facilities Manager that oversees the restrooms. This is a good place to start.
Contact your local Mall or strip Mall or large superstores that need them in their family restroom; again, be PERSISTENT! Start with the General Manager.
If you have a University near you, write a letter to the President of the University. Request that they consider adding them to all Campus buildings so that people will have a safe clean place at each building and won’t need to go across campus to one. Just installing one isn’t that helpful. If they have a Football Stadium suggest one to be installed there too.
Contact your Theaters, Civic Centers and Amusement Parks. Contact their General Manager and ask for guidance on whom you should speak too. Always keep track of name and dates. It helps when you discuss the issue with someone new.
